Safety is your first concern. Check to see if you or any passengers were injured in the auto accident. If anyone needs medical help, call 911.
Safely move away from oncoming traffic. If there is not damage to the front
of your vehicle, put on your warning lights or open the hood of your vehicle
to warn oncoming traffic that there is a problem.
Call the police if the accident involves injury or damage.
If possible, obtain information from the other driver and any witnesses, such as name, address and insurance information. Get information about the vehicle involved, such as make, model, color, year, license plate number.
Don’t Forget to Take Photographs
Take pictures of the accident, such as damage to the vehicle, the location,
skid marks and the driver.
If you have been injured, go to the hospital or see your physician for
an examination. Remember that symptoms can sometimes arise hours or even
days after an accident.
